General information, not financial, legal, or tax advice. Verify current terms and eligibility with the provider before applying.

Mercury does not serve businesses registered in Canada. As of 24 November 2025, Mercury provides US dollar business banking to companies incorporated in the United States, including those with founders who live abroad. A company registered only in Canada cannot open a Mercury account, though a Canadian founder who incorporates a US entity may qualify. Verify the current position with the provider.

Does Mercury serve business customers in Canada?

No, not for a Canadian company. Mercury is a US financial technology company that provides business banking services through partner banks to companies incorporated in the United States. It is not a Canadian bank and does not open accounts for businesses registered in Canada. A Canadian founder can use Mercury only by first incorporating a company in the United States and obtaining a US Employer Identification Number, after which Mercury can serve that US entity even when its owners live outside the country. A business that exists only as a Canadian registration cannot open a Mercury account. As of 24 November 2025.

Eligibility for businesses in Canada

Mercury requires a company incorporated in the United States, a US tax ID, and the usual owner identity and ownership documents. It supports many US company types including LLCs and C corporations and accepts founders who live outside the United States, but the entity itself must be US registered, and some business types it treats as restricted are not accepted. A company registered only in Canada does not meet the US incorporation requirement. Verify with the provider

What it costs locally

Mercury does not charge a monthly fee on its standard account and operates in US dollars, but there is no Canadian dollar account and no local Canada pricing because the product is US based. A Canadian founder using a US entity would hold a US dollar account, not a Canadian dollar one, and should weigh currency conversion costs. As of 24 November 2025

What local users report

Canadian founders of US companies commonly use Mercury for their US entity and report a fast online application and US dollar accounts with no monthly fee. For a business that operates and is taxed only in Canada, Mercury does not provide a local Canadian dollar account, and holding funds in a US account can add currency conversion and reporting considerations. Confirm your own tax and reporting obligations with a qualified adviser.

Mercury does not appear to serve business customers in Canada as of 24 November 2025, or the position is unclear. Verify directly with the provider. Providers confirmed available in Canada are listed on the Canada country guide.
