General information, not financial, legal, or tax advice. Verify current terms and eligibility with the provider before applying.

No. As of 19 January 2026 Mercury does not serve businesses registered in India. Mercury provides business accounts to companies formed and registered in the United States, and it requires a US entity and a US EIN. An India based founder can use Mercury only after forming a US company such as an LLC. A business registered solely in India cannot open a Mercury account.

Does Mercury serve business customers in India?

No. Mercury offers business banking services for technology companies and startups whose businesses are formed and registered in the United States or a US territory. It actively supports founders from around the world, including India, and can onboard non resident owned US LLCs entirely online without US travel or a Social Security number. However the account is for the US entity, which must have a genuine US connection and a valid US EIN, and Mercury bans registered agent only addresses, PO boxes and mailbox addresses. A company registered only in India does not qualify. India is not on Mercury list of restricted founder countries, so an Indian founder can apply once a qualifying US business exists. As of 19 January 2026.

Eligibility for businesses in India

There is no eligibility path for an India registered business because Mercury requires the business to be formed and registered in the United States or a US territory, with a US EIN and a genuine US connection. An India based founder could qualify only by forming a US entity such as an LLC and obtaining a US EIN, after which the application is treated as a US business rather than an Indian one. For a company that operates only in India, Mercury is not an option. Verify with the provider

What it costs locally

There is no India pricing to report because Mercury does not serve India registered businesses. Mercury publishes its account terms for US businesses in US dollars. For a usable comparison, look at the fees of providers that onboard India registered companies. As of 19 January 2026

What local users report

Mercury is widely discussed among Indian startup founders, but in the context of forming a US entity, typically a Delaware LLC or C corporation, in order to qualify, rather than opening an account with an Indian company. Founders who use Mercury have set up the US business first. Indian businesses that want a local account use banks licensed in India, and those that want cross border collection use international providers that onboard India registered companies.

Mercury does not appear to serve business customers in India as of 19 January 2026, or the position is unclear. Verify directly with the provider. Providers confirmed available in India are listed on the India country guide.

Questions about Mercury in India

Is Mercury available for business in India?
No. As of 19 January 2026 Mercury does not serve businesses registered in India. It provides accounts to companies formed and registered in the United States or a US territory, so a company registered only in India cannot apply. Verify the current position with the provider.
Can an Indian founder open a Mercury account?
Yes, but only with a qualifying US business. Once an India based founder forms a US entity such as an LLC and obtains a US EIN, Mercury can onboard the US company online, with no US travel or Social Security number, as India is not on its restricted founder list. A business registered solely in India does not qualify, as of 19 January 2026.
Does Mercury accept non US founders?
Yes. Mercury supports US companies with founders from around the world and onboards non resident owned US LLCs. The business itself must be a US entity with a US EIN and a genuine US connection, so this does not help a company registered only in India, as of 19 January 2026.

Indian businesses use banks licensed by the Reserve Bank of India for local current accounts, and international providers that onboard India registered companies for cross border multi currency collection, such as those listed on our India country guide. As of 19 January 2026.
