Snapshot

Indonesia has no automatic switch service that moves payments and standing instructions for you. Switching a business account is a manual project. Open the new account, then move incoming payments, suppliers, payroll, and tax and billing details across, and keep the old account open until everything has cleared. Your company NPWP does not change when you switch banks.

As of 12 April 2026, Indonesia has no automatic switch service of the kind found in some markets, so moving a business account is a manual project you run yourself. You open the new corporate account with the same documents as a first application, then redirect incoming payments and update outgoing instructions across customers, suppliers, payroll, and billing. Keep the old account open and funded until every expected payment has arrived and every recurring charge has moved. Your company NPWP stays the same, so only the bank account details change.

How switching works in practice

There is no equivalent of an automated switch service in Indonesia, so you manage the move yourself. Open the new corporate account with the same documents as a first application, including the Deed of Establishment, the NIB, the NPWP, the business licence, and director identification. Then redirect incoming payments and update outgoing instructions in an orderly sequence. As of 12 April 2026.

What to update

Update the customers and marketplaces that pay you, the suppliers and recurring payments you make, payroll and staff reimbursements, standing instructions and automatic debits, and your billing and electronic tax invoicing details so collections reconcile. Notify counterparties in writing and give them the new account details before the first cycle. As of 12 April 2026.

Keep the old account open

Leave the previous account open and funded until every expected payment has arrived and every recurring charge has moved across. Once nothing is routing to it, close it to avoid dormant or low balance account fees. As of 12 April 2026.

Your tax number stays the same

The company NPWP does not change when you switch banks, so only the bank account details change. Update vendor and customer records so they reference the new account number while keeping the same tax number. Confirm any reporting steps with your accountant. As of 12 April 2026.
