A PT or PT PMA needs its Deed of Establishment approved by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, an NIB from the OSS system, and an NPWP tax number. As of 22 September 2025, a business account in Indonesia is opened only after the company is fully registered. A PT or PT PMA must have its Deed of Establishment, the Akta, notarised and approved by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, an NIB issued through the OSS system, and an NPWP tax number with its tax certificate. The bank then asks for the business licence, a domicile letter for the company address, and director identification, and a foreign signing director is generally expected to hold a KITAS. Confirm the exact document list with the bank before you apply.

What the company needs in place

The company must be registered before any account can open. The Deed of Establishment, known as the Akta, is notarised and approved by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The NIB business identification number is issued through the OSS system, and the NPWP tax number is issued with a tax certificate, the SKT. A PT PMA also holds its investment approval. As of 22 September 2025.

Documents the bank asks for

Banks commonly ask for the Deed of Establishment and its Ministry approval, the NIB, the NPWP and tax certificate, the business licence, or izin usaha, and a domicile letter confirming the company address. Some banks also ask for a company profile and a board resolution naming the authorised signatory. Verify the exact list, since it varies by bank. As of 22 September 2025.

Director and signatory identification

A foreign director provides a passport, often with a minimum validity such as 18 months, together with a KITAS. A local director or shareholder provides a KTP identity card and an NPWP. Banks generally require a foreign signer to hold a KITAS and will refuse where the foreign signatory has no legal stay and work status. As of 22 September 2025.

In person opening, timeline, and minimums

Account opening is usually completed in person at a branch. From a complete company file the process commonly takes about 1 to 4 weeks. Many corporate accounts ask for a minimum balance around IDR 10 million and carry a monthly administrative fee. These figures vary by bank, so verify the current amounts. As of 22 September 2025.
