As of 6 June 2026, a genuinely free business account is uncommon in Bahrain. Local banks such as National Bank of Bahrain and Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait price through account or maintenance fees and a minimum balance, and the global business neobanks that advertise free or low cost plans, such as Wise Business and Revolut Business, do not serve Bahrain registered companies. The cheapest practical option is a local account whose minimum balance you can keep, used with few chargeable transactions. Confirm the current terms with the provider.

What free means for a business account in Bahrain

An account marketed as low cost can still carry a real cost through a minimum balance that ties up cash, and through charges for transfers, currency conversion, cheque books, and cash handling. In Bahrain, local banks set their own schedules, often combining a maintenance fee with a balance requirement. National Bank of Bahrain has stated a 500 Bahraini dinars minimum balance for business accounts. The neobanks that advertise free plans in other markets do not serve Bahrain registered companies, so they are not an option for a company here. Figures vary by bank, so confirm them with the provider.

Why neobank free plans are not available

As of 6 June 2026, Wise states that businesses registered in Bahrain cannot hold money in a Wise Business account, and Revolut Business does not list Bahrain as an eligible country. Their advertised plans are therefore not open to Bahrain companies. A company in Bahrain uses a local bank, and may add Payoneer to receive payments from abroad, though that is a payment account rather than a free current account.

Getting close to free

The lowest cost route is to pick a local account whose minimum balance you can comfortably keep, so no fall below charge applies, and to limit the chargeable transactions you use. Compare the maintenance fee, the balance rule, and the transfer and conversion charges together, since the cheapest headline is not always the cheapest in use.

We do not list a free business account in our compare panel that is confirmed available to companies registered in Bahrain as of 6 June 2026. Local banks such as National Bank of Bahrain and Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait accept business customers in Bahrain and price through fees and a minimum balance. Confirm current terms with the provider before applying.

Questions about free business accounts in Bahrain

Is there a free business bank account in Bahrain?
Local banks generally charge account or maintenance fees and require a minimum balance rather than offering a genuinely free account, and the global business neobanks that advertise free plans do not serve Bahrain registered companies. The closest to free is an account where the minimum balance is met and few chargeable transactions are used. Confirm the current terms with the provider, as of 6 June 2026.
Why do business neobanks not offer free accounts in Bahrain?
As of 6 June 2026, Wise states that businesses registered in Bahrain cannot hold money in a Wise Business account, and Revolut Business does not list Bahrain as an eligible country, so their low cost plans are not available to Bahrain companies. Companies use local banks, which price through fees and balance rules. Check each provider for the current position.
How can a Bahrain business keep account costs low?
Compare the account fee against the minimum balance, keep the balance above the set level to avoid a fall below charge, limit chargeable transactions, and weigh transfer and conversion costs if you deal abroad. The cheapest headline is not always the cheapest in use. Confirm the schedule with the provider, as of 6 June 2026.
Does a free account include international transfers in Bahrain?
International transfers and currency conversion are usually charged separately, even where an account has a low running fee. For a business that pays or receives abroad, these charges can be the largest cost. Compare them per transfer and on the exchange rate margin, as of 6 June 2026, and confirm with the provider.
