As of 1 December 2025, to open a business account in Ghana you first register the business with the Office of the Registrar of Companies, a sole trader registering a business name and a company receiving a certificate of incorporation, then obtain a Tax Identification Number. You take the registration documents, identification for owners and directors such as a Ghana Card or passport, proof of business address, and, for a company, a board resolution, to a bank such as GCB Bank, Fidelity Bank Ghana, Ecobank Ghana, or Stanbic Bank Ghana to open a cedi current account.   4. For a company, pass a board resolution authorising the account and the named signatories.
  5. Apply at the bank, complete the account opening forms, pass the know your customer checks, and make any initial deposit the bank requires.

Sole traders and companies
