General information, not financial, legal, or tax advice. Verify current terms and eligibility with the provider before applying.

Yes, with limits. As of 8 November 2025 Airwallex onboards businesses registered in India, but it does so under its Singapore entity, Airwallex Singapore Pte Ltd, rather than as a locally licensed Indian bank. An Indian company can open a multi currency account to receive in more than 20 currencies and pay out, but there is no INR Global Account for receiving rupee like a local, and you operate under Singapore licensing. Confirm the exact product set, fees and any compliance documents such as FIRA with the provider.

Does Airwallex serve business customers in India?

Yes, with limits. Airwallex is a global payments and financial platform founded in 2015. India is an eligible country to onboard, and India registered companies, LLPs, proprietorships, partnerships and Udyam registered MSMEs can apply, but they are served by Airwallex Singapore Pte Ltd. That means the available products, fee schedule and compliance artefacts follow the Singapore entity, not Indian banking regulation. The account is a multi currency account for collecting and paying internationally, with Global Accounts in over 20 currencies and a payments gateway, rather than a local Indian current account. Cross border flows to and from India are also governed by Indian foreign exchange rules, so confirm how your receipts and payouts are treated. As of 8 November 2025.

Eligibility for businesses in India

Airwallex onboards India registered businesses, including private limited companies, LLPs, proprietorships and partnerships, and MSMEs registered on Udyam. Onboarding is online and runs through KYC and KYB, typically asking for proof of incorporation, GST and PAN, an ownership chart and a recent bank statement or financials, with activation often one to three business days after verification. Because the entity is Airwallex Singapore, document requirements follow its South East Asia onboarding that includes India. Verify with the provider

What it costs locally

Account opening is free and there is no standard monthly fee published for the Singapore entity that serves India. FX conversion generally uses a spread over the interbank rate, with public pricing pages showing about 0.5 percent for major currencies and about 1 percent for others. Card acceptance through the gateway and SWIFT transfers carry their own fees that vary by region and plan, with SWIFT often listed in the region of 15 to 35 US dollars. Treat these as a guide and confirm your India entity pricing with the provider. As of 8 November 2025

What local users report

Indian businesses use Airwallex mainly to collect from overseas customers in foreign currency and convert to INR for domestic payout. A point exporters raise is documentation: there is no public confirmation that Airwallex automatically issues FIRA or eBRC for inward remittances into India, so anyone who needs those for export compliance should ask during onboarding. Because you bank under the Singapore entity, deposit protection and dispute handling follow Singapore rules rather than an Indian deposit guarantee, so confirm how funds are safeguarded before relying on it.

  3. Once verified, usually within one to three business days, fund the multi currency wallet and set up your Global Accounts and payouts
