Overview
Holvi has focused on the self employed and small companies since it launched in Finland. The account combines a euro IBAN, a Mastercard debit card, virtual cards, invoicing and tools that help you prepare for VAT and bookkeeping. International transfers in 18 currencies are offered directly inside Holvi. Holvi is regulated by the Financial Supervisory Authority of Finland as an authorised payment institution, and customer funds are held as segregated funds rather than as bank deposits.
Strengths
One place for the account, invoicing and expense tracking, which can suit very small teams. A real time VAT view helps with tax preparation. Onboarding is fully online and usually takes a couple of days after you submit your details.
Limitations
Holvi is a payment institution, so balances are safeguarded rather than covered by deposit guarantee in the way a bank deposit is. It serves a limited set of markets, currently Finland, Germany and Austria. Holvi does not offer overdrafts. Verify current terms with Holvi before applying.
